Hi all,

Just a few updates for this month.

March 11th (This Saturday) We are having a clinic at Anderson Chiropractic. Dr. Justin Mohr has generously offered to be our sponsor and our TRAINER. The clinic is for Dr. Justin Mohr to evaluate the guys before the season starts. If they are having any issues with back/shoulders etc. He will best know how to prevent further issues if he knows upfront. This is a completely FREE clinic. You should have received a letter in the mail from their office. The guys will need to have a portion of that form filled out on arrival. They are even feeding the guys that day with some snacks. The guys have signed up for a designated time and it's very important that they are not late. If you aren't sure of your time please let me know. Anderson Chiropractic is located at 7390 Business Center Drive in Avon. 317-272-4302. They are located on the south side of US 36, just east of INDY TIRE CENTER, and is across the street from the big junk yard. It's sort of behind Oak Creations.

Practice:

Starting Monday we will be having practices outside at the Settlement. MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY from 4:30 - 6:30.

Games:

We are having a scrimmage on March 17th in Avon. It looks like our home field is going to be located at the NEHEMIAH PROJECT which is located on Dan Jones Road, between US 36 and 100 North. It's on the East side of the road. Big Church, soccer fields....can't miss it. Guys will need to be there by 4:00. If you are willing to help with various things during games, please email me.

Impala's Tournament

We are planning on participating in the Impala's tournament on March 20th. It will be held at Central State grounds on West Washington Street (more to come regarding time).

Thanks,

Please read below from Harry Laws regarding the Carmel Jamboree

FYI –

Coaches please note that there are actually two releases included in this document. The first one is for an adult (which some of your players may be 18 already) – the second is the one that they majority of them will need to sign (release of liability for a minor). Please have them prepared prior to arriving to the facility.

Hi Everyone!

Well....this is it. We are officially beginning our 2010 Rugby season tomorrow (Monday). By now, all of you should have been contacted by me as a reminder. If not, Practice is on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 - 4:30ish at the 10th Street Sports Center located just west of the intersection of 10th Street(100N) and Raceway Road. We have a few kids looking for rides. If you are a parent that wouldn't mind an extra boy or two riding to practice please let me know asap.

I am hoping that parents would come to the first few practices. I will be there to answer questions and discuss the help that the team needs.

We will be taking orders for the sweathshirts the first week of practice. I know some of you missed out on the first round of orders. Sweatshirts are $22.00. Must be paid for at the time of order.

Many, many thanks to Randy Hawley for taking on the challenge of updating our Website. Please check it out at www.avonrugby.org, Many items will be added in the next several weeks so check it out often. I'm sure you can imagine with 40+ kids on the team it's hard to communicate with every single parent and player. That is a challenge at times due to wrong email addresses and spam. You can always count on me to send an email and post happenings on our facebook page (avon rugby club), and now the website. If all of you could commit to checking your email or going to the facebook page daily, that would be great. If you have given me your email address but have not received emails from me, please call me at 414-6890 and we'll work it out.

Thanks to all of you that came out to the Crag for a fun day of rock climbing. I had a blast and enjoyed visiting with you that day. I hope that we can do more team building things together in the future. Work Hard...Play Hard!!!!

We are in need of sponsors. If you think that your company or employer would sponsor our team, please let me know.

Thanks and I can't wait to see all of you tomorrow.

Go Avon Rugby!

New this year is a Colts requirement to provide a release of Liability for all participants, minor or adult. I’ve attached a copy of each. It will be the team's responsibility to obtain these and give them to me prior to your first match [spectators do not have to sign…] Referees will have to sign too, as will coaches.

Hey All,

I hope that you all are enjoying the Holidays.

Just a few reminders:

1. Team Building event is Monday at noon at the CRAG Rock Climbing Wall. This is not mandatory but will help give you some time with each other (while you aren't running) lol. Please be prepared to have parents sign a waiver if you are under 18. You can print it off at www.cragclimbing.com and get directions.

2. Practice begins on Monday the 4th at 10th Street Sports Center located at 10th and Raceway Rd. It's just East of the flower shop on 10th. Practice times are 3:30 to 4:30 ish.

Bring a water bottle to practice and wear running shoes.

I am looking forward to seeing you all soon. Parents: I will be there for the first few practices and look forward to working with you on making this a fantastic Rugby Season. My goal is that every athlete has a positive and fun season.

Sincerely,

DeAnna Murphy

Players/Parents,

I have arranged for the team to have a team building day at the Crag. (rock climbing wall in Brownsburg). They are willing to open their doors early on Monday December 28th at Noon. The cost is $10.00 per person if we have at least 20 climbers. This will be an excellent opportunity for the boys to become acquainted with each other in a fun environment. Parents, feel free to come along...we can use help belaying.

Please RSVP to me by Monday the 21st of December.

Email me or call @ 414-6890 if you have any questions.

Practice will be starting Monday the 4th. Watch for upcoming emails for more info.

Hey everyone,

Please read the below message and the attached flyer. This will be a great opportunity to check out your competition and support your sport. It's a little far away but It's for a good cause. If you plan to go and don't have clothing to wear. Call me. 414-6890 or email, or facebook me. Zoo (fellow teammate) was trying to set up a time for Saturday if you can't go on Friday. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the Friday night movie due to previous commitments but I encourage you all to go.

This is a great opportunity to bring awareness about Rugby.

Please review the attached flyer for information on group outings to the movie Invictus.

Parents, we need volunteers in two different categories:

  1. Volunteers to help with food donation collection – bring boxes and deliver donations to food pantry
  2. “Rugby Ambassadors” to distribute postcards and answer simple questions about rugby – offer direction to moviegoers interested in learning more about rugby.

Please write back or call if you are willing to help.

See you there!
