Tom was introduced to many missionaries and missions projects during his early years as a pastor’s son at Evangel Baptist Church (Taylor, MI). After graduating from Baptist Bible College (Clarks Summit, PA), he and his new bride, Gela (Miller) went on a six week missions trip to Chile to prayerfully consider missions full-time. Instead, God led them to Berea Baptist Church (Berea,OH). While serving as youth pastor there, Tom was able to finish his seminary education through the Baptist Bible Seminary extension program. Five years to the day from accepting the call to Berea, Tom and Gela packed up their truck and headed to Indianapolis to be church planters through the ministry of Bethesda Baptist in Brownsburg, IN. It was there, in 1995, that West Pines Baptist Church was founded. It has always had a strong emphasis on evangelism, and God has blessed! Currently, they are in their own building sitting on 16 acres of land! West Pines Baptist is excited to be the sending church for the Graefs. Gela was born in Jerusalem while her parents were there to study the Jewish religion in order to more effectively witness to them. They left there and moved to Argentina to work among the Jews. While there, Gela learned much about living in a crosscultural environment and in God’s sustaining grace. She learned a commitment to God’s word from her father, and a desire to use the home for ministry from her mother. Their three children, David, Jessica, and Hannah are excited to be MK’s! They will be a big help in the ministry! All of them actively invite their neighborhood friends to church and pray for the lost. Some have been saved through their ministry. Now, as a family, we look forward to moving to Romania to help train church planters and assist in mobilizing a missions movement.

Here Are Some Sermons on the Life of Paul that you may find helpful!

Acts 17 - This sermon deals with Paul in Athens.  It shows that he did not compromise, but rather, took the "common ground" in order to demonstrate how far apart they were!10/02/05

Acts 20a - Eutychus fell out of Paul's class.  This sermon shows Paul's dedication to the teaching and preaching to those he loves.12/04/05

Acts 20b - This sermon takes a look at Paul's farewell speech to the Ephesian pastors.  It shows Paul's willingness to die for the sake of the will of God. 01/01/06

From the last few chapters in Acts, this sermon describes how foolish we must look to go into missions.  It gives practical application from the life of Paul to not live a common sense life.02/05/06 (There is about 10 seconds of silence before the preaching starts, so please be patient.)

For some recent photos and music from our West Pines Baptist Praise Team click on the link below.  This years recording is called "Praises in a Corn Field", since our church is in the middle of a corn field.  In Indy, what isn't in the center of a corn field.  However, if we do this again next year, it will have to be "Praises in a Bean Patch" since they rotate annually between corn and beans!
